Extending Your Desktop onto Another Screen

🖥️ Step 1: Connect the Second Screen

Use an appropriate cable: HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-C, or VGA
Plug one end into your laptop or PC and the other into your monitor or TV
Ensure the external screen is powered on and set to the correct input source

⚙️ Step 2: Open Display Settings

Windows 10/11:
- Right-click on the desktop → Display settings
- Scroll to Multiple displays section
- Choose Extend these displays from the dropdown
Shortcut Method: Press Windows + P and select Extend

🧭 Step 3: Arrange Your Displays

In Display settings, drag the screens to match their physical layout (e.g. left/right or stacked)
Click Apply to save the arrangement
Identify screens by clicking Identify (each screen will show a number)

✅ Step 4: Use Your Extended Desktop

You can now move your mouse, windows, and apps between screens
Great for multitasking—one screen for work, one for meetings, email, or browsing
Maximise or drag windows freely between monitors

🔁 Tips

To mirror (duplicate) instead, choose Duplicate these displays
For presentations, use Second screen only to display just on the external monitor
Check your monitor resolution settings for the best display quality
Use F4, F8, or Fn + Display key (varies by laptop) to toggle display modes on some devices
